Pictures from Hike for Hospice on September 21st!

September 17, 2008

Well, summer has come and gone. Here at Red Cedar Oncology we had a busy summer. Our first bit of news is that Kevin (one of our chemo nurses) and his wife Heather had a beautiful baby boy, Nathan, on June 7, 2008. Nathan has been a great addition to our Red Cedar family.

On June 21st and 22nd, we participated in our first Relay for Life in Charlotte. It was a great experience and we are proud to be part of such a wonderful event. By our calculations our team logged more than 125 miles. We can’t wait until next year to participate.

Our Electronic Medical Records system is still being put into place. While we are definitely gaining, we still have some work to do. Please remain patient with us as we work towards completing this process.

Upcoming events for our office include the Hike for Hospice on Sep. 21, 2008.

Happy autumn to everyone!

Happy Spring! We hope all of you are enjoying the warm weather and sunshine as much as we at RCO are.

Our office is implementing an Electronic Medical Records system. In lay terms we are putting all of our patient’s information onto computers. This means no more paper charts! We ask that you please bear with us during this time. It will be a long process while we iron out all the kinks.

Some of us from the office participated in the Susan G. Komen walk on April 27th. It was truly amazing to see how many breast cancer survivors as well as participants were there. It gives us a great feeling knowing how many people are walking towards a cure.

On June 20th and 21st the Relay for Life will be taking place in Charlotte. RCO is one of the sponsors for this event. If anyone is interested in participating in the Relay for Life, please contact Amanda at the office. We are very excited to be taking part in this event and we hope to see you there!

Hayes Green Beach’s Health Fest

It is hard to believe that we have already “sprung” into March. Many of us are anxious for spring to arrive. With the changing of the seasons, there are a few office updates to share…

It is with great sorrow that Red Cedar Oncology announces that Dr. Beckrow will be leaving the practice. The main concern for all of us in the office is the care of our patients. As a patient of Red Cedar Oncology, you are welcome to remain with the practice and receive care from Dr. Rapson and her staff. You are also welcome to continue care with Dr. Beckrow at his new office. With this is mind, we at Red Cedar Oncology will assist you in any way with your future medical decisions.

Our patients have been able to enjoy music therapy and Reiki therapy this past month. Heartland Home Care and Hospice were kind enough to share their wonderful talents and services with us. We hope to collaborate some other services with them in the near future.

Red Cedar Oncology is attending some community events this spring. On March 15th we participated in the Hayes Green Beach’s Health Fest (pictured above!). We will also be at the Susan G. Komen Race/Walk on April 27th, 2008. Make sure to look for us!

We hope that you have found our web site informative. It has been a great accomplishment for us. Please let us know what you think! Until next time…

December 15, 2007

We close out 2007 with a few changes. The first being our name, Red Cedar Oncology. It was decided that this name will allow our doctors, nurses, and support staff to be thought of as a whole. With this name change comes a variety of great things. We have revamped our website to provide our patients with the most up-to-date information. We have also added some entertainment for our chemotherapy patients – portable DVD players and Wi-Fi Internet.

The second change is one that saddens us… One of our nurses, Erika, is leaving. She will be joining her husband as he begins a new job in Cleveland. While she will be greatly missed, we wish Erika, Pat and Mira the best of luck.

Our last newsworthy change of 2007 is the addition of Michelle. Michelle will be taking over for Erika. Michelle has been a nurse for 9 ˝ years and has a vast amount of experience including ER, obstetrics, and recovery room.

From all of us at Red Cedar Oncology, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
